Landslides Early Notification Based On Internet of Things

Landslides result in the destruction of property interrupts public services and also leads to loss of lives. Landslides usually occur in mountain regions having a steep front. These usually occur in form of mud and soil flow and rock sliding. To mitigate the effects of the landslide, a landslide early notification system is designed based on the Internet of Things(IoT).

IoT involves connecting and programming different sensors and actuators to automatically execute a given task. Natural disaster early notification allows for easy access to information even in hard-to-reach regions by adding sensors with GPS systems into the environment without requiring cartography or geoprocessing for its operations. Furthermore, in case of emergency or sudden shock, the system can help in prioritizing the emergency response and done near or far.

A case study carried out demonstrating the benefits and difficulties of implementing this system for emergency notification and decision-making assistance in urban and rural areas where landslides can occur.
