Design and implementation of a smart health remote monitoring system for cardiovascular disease’s patients using IoT

There are a large number of diseases which are fatal, cardiovascular diseases have become the leading cause of deaths in the world.

There is an increase in the aging population and elderly people often suffer from chronic diseases, people suffering from chronic diseases require continuous monitoring to avoid deterioration of their health conditions. There is a problem of lack of sufficient medical facilities to enable proper and immediate care of all people suffering from cardiovascular diseases as they require real-time and continuous monitoring to better manage their disease. Monitoring patients remotely is a big challenge that has to be addressed because of its importance and usefulness in providing better healthcare services. Smart health remote monitoring aims at providing a safe, low-cost, and easy method for a patient to measure his/her body physiological parameters related to heart diseases such as electrocardiogram (ECG) signals, heart rate, and blood oxygenation levels. It will enable continuous and remote monitoring of a patient by a doctor.

Information gathered from different sensors will at the same time be sent to the doctor who will then be able to view in real-time body physiological parameters of a patient and request a report of previous readings stored in the database if need be. The smart health monitoring system for cardiovascular disease patients will allow better management of a patient’s condition remotely by a doctor.
